Patricia Keeler’s SCOOP THE ICE CREAM TRUCK is the tale of an urban ice-cream truck, SCOOP, who has “seen a lot of summers.” His old-fashioned vanilla cones can’t compete with newer, trendy trucks that hawk Organic, Flash Frozen, and Dots ice cream in dozens of flavors.

SCOOP rests on a side street when BOING BOING, a big red ball bounces against him, and he meets a little girl named Spunky. They become fast friends. But soon the other trucks invade their corner of the city. Scoop gets decked out to keep Spunky’s attentions, but, alas, lacks the horsepower and has a meltdown.

But Scoop is not defeated! He and his intrepid pal, come up with a perfect plan that will leave adults and children as satisfied as the tastiest ice cream cone ever!

With beautiful full-color art, plenty of charm, and a gentle lesson tucked inside like the last bite of cone, this sweet summertime story is perfect for classrooms, parents, and children at bedtime—or anytime someone needs a scoop of joy.
